Saturday School

Saturday School

There are Saturday Schools on both sites of the school, Tafira and South, which provide formal, structured classes on Saturday mornings to students from the age of 4 to 18. Qualified, English speaking staff deliver the classes with students following a progressive curriculum, building skills, understanding and confidence, which can lead to the prestigious Cambridge ESL exams.

Tafira

The Saturday School programme in Tafira provides a challenging opportunity for children to spend their Saturday mornings immersed in an English-speaking environment, learning this important, internationally recognised language.

Each Saturday the children participate in three structured English lessons that include speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar activities, to build their linguistic skills. Every Saturday the students also participate in fun activity sessions that allow them to use their English language skills whilst enjoying diverse activities such as cooking, art, sports, music and computer skills.

Our students are prepared for, and have the opportunity to sit for the prestigious Cambridge ESL exams. This English qualification has international recognition and prestige, evaluating skills that will last a lifetime.

We have a school bus service with a variety of routes that collect from many parts of the island. Transport is included in the course fees.

Please see links below for information on course content, fees, calendar and bus service.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp

Summer Camp

The Summer Camps, again offered on both site, provide an intensive and fun opportunity for children to develop and improve English within a supportive and dynamic environment during the summer holidays. The camps run through the month of July and include English lessons and other, less formal recreational activities where English is used and developed. The camps have proved to be an enjoyable, fulfilling and fun way to learn English and spend time with other children and young people over the summer.

Tafira

For students aged 3 to 16 years, each day of our Summer Camp is filled with exciting learning opportunities and entertaining activities at our Tafira site, a bucolic setting with privileged views of Bandama and surrounding hills.

At least half of the time is spent in classrooms with qualified English teachers who help the children gain confidence and fluency in their understanding and speaking of English. The rest of the time is devoted to sporting & creative activities, and trips away from the centre (including horse riding); all taught and supervised through the target language of English.

Students enjoy our quality 'home-cooked' lunches, which are included in the price, in our modern dining facilities.

We have a school bus service that is available on request that collects from for most areas of the city, as well as a Breakfast Club service from 7.30am. Both are subject to separate fees.

Please see links below for further information on our course content, fees, dates & times and bus service.

Admissions

Admissions

Application Procedure

An important component of our admissions process is ensuring that prospective parents are fully informed and have first-hand knowledge of The British School and, therefore, we will organise a school visit and meetings with key school staff to ensure that this takes place.

Depending on the age of the pupil, we may need to conduct an academic evaluation, which might include an English Entrance Test, maths evaluation and other appropriate subject exams, for the oldest students. Alongside these evaluations, we expected high standards of behaviour, and a commitment to making a positive contribution to our school community. For school age children the application process should be supported with current and recent school reports.

The Admission Process extends beyond the formal acceptance of a student as we understand the importance of a quick and seamless transition and insertion into the school. Prior to the start of the academic year, Taster Days are organised for students to attend school with their new classmates. In addition, meetings and parent/school liaison are put in place to ensure close support and guidance during the induction and settling-in period.
