Y10 LGBTQ+ Talk

Y10 LGBTQ+ Talk

Year 10 students took part in an insightful PSHE talk by the local organisation GAMA. The workshop, “Género y realidad trans”, explored key topics like gender identity, expressions of gender, trans rights, and relevant legislation.

This talk is part of the Atención a la Diversidad Sexual en el Aula project, funded by the Consejería de Educación y Juventud del Cabildo de Gran Canaria, which aims to encourage positive attitudes towards sexual, gender, and family diversity among young people.

The talks are important as they help students understand diversity, foster respect, and create a safer school environment for everyone. By promoting inclusion and empathy, they equip students with the tools to become more tolerant and aware citizens.

Our appreciation to GAMA for delivering such a meaningful workshop! 🌈 #Inclusion #Diversity #Respect #Empathy #PSHE #GAMA

"Camino hasta el Bienestar Emocional" Workshop

"Camino hasta el Bienestar Emocional" Workshops: A Great Success!

At the British School of Gran Canaria, we are committed to nurturing students' academic and personal growth through our PSHE program. We aim to equip them with essential life skills, including managing their mental and physical health, fostering positive relationships, and building resilience.

The recent “Camino hasta el Bienestar Emocional” workshops for Year 11 and Year 12, led by REDECO (Instituto Interdisciplinar de Resolución de Conflictos), were a tremendous success. Students found the interactive sessions engaging and practical, gaining valuable insights into emotional well-being.

Key takeaways included strategies for self-care, understanding when to prioritise personal needs, and tools to manage emotions effectively. Students also appreciated the speaker's approachable and relatable style.

Partnering with expert local organisations to address topics such as healthy relationships, internet safety, study skills, health, and career development is an integral part of our approach. These sessions play a vital role in supporting students’ personal growth alongside their academic journey.
