The British School of Gran Canaria is fundamentally committed to the principles of improvement and development, viewing the obligation to extend and improve the school and the education it provides as a basic and unquestionable responsibility. In order to fulfil this responsibility the school periodically develops School Development Plans (SDPs) that identify key areas for improvement and growth, with specific objectives for improvement that provide clarity and focus for this work. The cycle of SDPs have usually spanned three academic years with the timeline over recent plans covering the following years: 2012-15, 2015-18 and 2019-21.
The school’s SDPs are constructed utilising the input of important and influential sources, including the school’s ISI inspection reports, international examination results, benchmarking and diagnostic data, consultation with governors, staff, parents and students, and professional development courses and conferences. In all instances, the work of SDP contemplates and moves the school closer towards its stated Vision and Mission.
